Box Score CASTLETON: Castleton scored in seven of its eight at-bats and the Cadets struggled to get anything going offensively, falling 23-1 on the road against the in-state rivals.
Norwich had a chance to score in the top of the first inning after a leadoff double by freshman Brian Baker (Keene, N.H.) who was sacrificed to third by Sean Gerich (Chicago, Ill.). But Castleton worked out of trouble, retiring both Dustin Shimkus (Collinsville, Ill.) and Cody Lindell (Cranston, R.I.).
The Cadets got a leadoff double in the second from freshman Billy Whaley (Northfield, Vt.) but were unable to crack the run column again.
Nicholas Gendron (Alstead, N.H.) took the loss on the mound for Norwich, working one inning. The Cadets also used Devin Cilley (Tunbridge, Vt.), Brandon Place (Concord, N.H.), Jacob Muetterties (Boxford, Mass.), Kevin Gadowski (Chandler, Ariz.) and Scott Yashinski (Kintnersville, Pa.).
Norwich will be back in action Wednesday against Middlebury.
