NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's rugby team wrapped up the 2013 Northeast Women's Collegiate Rugby Conference (NWCRC) regular season with a dominant 93-0 win over Boston University on Saturday morning at the NU Dog River Rugby Pitch.
Senior Joya Clark (Scotia, N.Y.) and Ally Day (Gorham, Maine) each tallied four tries a piece as the Cadets stayed perfect on the season, improving their record to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in NWCRC play.
Day opened the scoring in the seventh minute by blasting through the Boston University defense after Emily Colesworthy (North Yarmouth, Maine) sprang her loose with a pass.
Norwich never looked back as Danielle Richards (Westbrook, Maine), Emily Oor (Uxbridge, Ontario), Meaghan Weppner (Williamsville, N.Y.), Sophie Mundell (Eagle River, Alaska), Natayla Mendez (Cambridge, Mass.), Colesworthy, and Meaghan Albert (Lanesborough, Mass.) all added tries as well for the Cadets.
Sophomore flyhalf Hannah Bell (Newberg, Ore.) also had nine conversions to round out the Norwich offense on the day.
Norwich will return to action in two weeks when it travels to Army for the American Collegiate Rugby Association (ACRA) Sweet Sixteen and Quarterfinal rounds. NU's Sweet Sixteen opponent has yet to be determined.
