Volleyball: Cadets Fall to AMCATS, 3-0, in Final Regular Season Contest

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College volleyball team totaled 42 kills en route to a 3-0 win against the visiting Cadets of Norwich University on Friday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

With the loss, Norwich falls to 6-20 on the season and 3-8 in league play, while the win boosts the AMCATS to 11-15 overall and 3-8 in GNAC play.

Anna Maria, Norwich, and the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) all conclude the regular season in a three-way tie for eighth place in the 2013 GNAC Tournament. Seedings will be announced by the league office on Saturday evening. 

Game scores were 26-24, 25-23, and 25-19. Norwich was led by Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) and Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.), who both totaled eight kills. Corinne Baita (Rochester, N.H.) dished out 21 assists, while Angie Hershberger (Felton, Calif.) paced the defense with nine digs.

The AMCATS saw a match-high 11 kills from Alyssa Haberman and 10 kills from Alex Rodriguez. Jacqueline Clinton led Anna Maria's defense with 13 digs, while Michelle Connolly added 12. Setter Samantha Parker dished out a match-high 38 assists.

With the win, Anna Maria set a new program record for wins in a season with 11. The previous record of nine was set in 2001. The AMCATS also beat Mount Ida College in an earlier match this afternoon.
