Box Score BOSTON, Mass.—The Norwich University men's basketball team dropped a 68-59 decision to Emerson College on Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
With the loss, the Cadets fall to 4-10 and 1-6 in GNAC action, while the win boosts the Lions to 7-7 overall and 5-2 in league play.
Senior guard Josh Cabrera (Providence, R.I.) totaled a game-high 21 points for Norwich on 7-12 shooting from the floor, including 2-4 shooting from the arc, and perfect 5-5 shooting from the free-throw line. Evan Tullar (Chelsea, Vt.) chipped in with 10 points, a team-high seven rebounds and six assists for the Cadets, while Gary Gladden (Boynton Beach, Fla.) added eight points.
The Cadets would hold an early 12-9 lead with 12:12 to play in the first half, but Emerson would take control from there, opening their lead to 26-18 at the 7:03 mark. Despite trailing in first-half shooting percentage, the Lions would post a 26-22 field goal advantage to lead 35-24 at the half.
The Lions continued their reign in the second half, leading by double-digits for the first 10 minutes of the half. Norwich would cut Emerson's lead to six at 9:16 with a three-point basket by Alex Preckol (Wesford, Mass.), a free-throw by Gladden, and another jumper by Preckol, but Emerson would outlast the Cadets and finish with the 68-59 win.
Emerson's Brian Hurley and James Rhodes both tallied 13 points and Jon Goldberg added 10 points and six assists. Patrick Lowndes totaled a team-high seven rebounds.
Norwich returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Lasell College in GNAC action at 7:30 p.m.
