Box Score KINGSTON, R.I. – Sophomore forward Kaycie Anderson (Maple Plain, Minn.) and junior forward Renee Lortie (Cornwall, Ontario) each scored twice as the Norwich University women's ice hockey team won its third game of the week with a 6-3 win over Salve Regina on Saturday afternoon.
Anderson's two goal-game pushed her to an impressive 11 points on the week as the Cadets went 3-0 with two wins over St. Michael's on Wednesday and Friday as well.
Norwich (9-2-3, 9-1-0 ECAC East) took a 2-1 lead after the first 20 minutes courtesy of Lortie's first of the game and another tally from Stephanie Invernizzi (Hingham, Mass.) with 26 seconds left in the stanza to break a 1-1 tie.
Junior forward Tori Charron (Tecumseh, Ontario) and Lortie scored at the 8:20 and 18:32 marks respectively of the second period to make it 4-1 Norwich heading into the second intermission.
The two teams traded two goals each in the third period with Anderson netting both of the Cadet goals to come away with the 6-3 victory and NU's first win at Salve Regina since Feb. 5, 2010.
Anderson nearly quadrupled her season point total in the last three games. She now has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points to rank third on the team behind junior defenseman Kayla Parsons (Fairbanks, Alaska).
Junior goaltender Kelly Fisk (Hannibal, N.Y.) made 12 saves to improve to 2-1-1 on the season.
Norwich returns home to Kreitzberg Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 16 as the Cadets look to pick up their first non-conference win of the season in a showdown with perennial NESCAC powerhouse Amherst. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be video streamed live by the Northeast Sports Network at www.nsnsports.net/norwich.
