NORTHFIELD, VT. - Norwich University continued its 2011-12 dual season with a 37-8 loss to American International Jan. 27.

The Cadets, dipping to 0-9, did get a pair of individual victories. The freshman duo of 125-pounder Alex Stewart (Ellicott City, Md.) and 157-pounder Nick Smith (Hanover, Mass.) scored the team's eight points. Stewart scored a dramatic 5-3 win with a takedown on the edge with two seconds remaining. Smith piled up 16 points in the first period due to four nearfalls, three of which were the three-point variety, to gain the technical fall win.

American International (6-7) accumulated its team score in large part due to five bonus-point wins.

Norwich returns to the mat Sunday, Feb. 5, for the 2012 All-Academy Invitational at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
