Box Score 3 NORTHFIELD, VT. – Buoyed by three players with 20-or-more kills, Norwich University turned in a strong effort at its home quadrangular Sept. 3.
Coach Amanda Cuiffo's team upended Colby-Sawyer College of New Hampshire in four and swept past the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to set up a clash with fellow unbeaten Babson College of Massachusetts. The Cadets, after dropping the opening game to the Beavers, rallied back with a 25-12 game two win. However, Babson, sparked by similar strong play at the net, came back with wins in the third and fourth games to seal their 3-0 record.
Senior Ivana Batur (Zagreb, Croatia) ended with 23 kills, while freshman Alex Palmer (South Windsor, Conn.) added 22 and senior April Byllaardt (Stormville, N.Y.) chipped in 21. Palmer also had 10 service aces and 48 digs during the day. Batur ended with eight blocks.
Colby-Sawyer College ended the day with a 1-2 record, defeating MCLA. MCLA finished the quadrangular at 0-3.
Norwich closes a five-match home stand Tuesday, Sept. 6, when St. Michael's College of Vermont visits Andrews Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. match.
