Box Score LYNDONVILLE, VT. – Fueled by a strong offense, Norwich University dispatched in-state opponent Lyndon State in three games Sept. 22.
Coach Amanda Cuiffo's Cadets, improving to 7-5, took a 25-11, 25-18, 25-5 sweep of the Hornets (1-5). The team registered a .300 or higher attack percentage in games one and three including a sparkling .583 to close out the match.
Among the top individual efforts were senior middle hitter Ivana Batur (Zagreb, Croatia) with eight kills, three service aces, two solo blocks and a .412 attack percentage, and junior outside hitter Haley Vermes (Westborough, Mass.) with five kills and a .444 attack percentage. Fellow senior middle hitter April Byllaardt (Stormville, N.Y.) added a team-best 10 kills and five service aces.
The Cadets continue a four-match week when they host Lasell and Emmanuel Colleges in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play inside Andrews Gymnasium Saturday, Sept. 24. Match times are 12 p.m. against Lasell and 4 p.m. against Emmanuel.
NOTES: The double-digit kill evening for Byllaardt was her second of the season and in the last three matches. … The team's attack percentage marked the second time the Cadets have been over .300 with other being the season-opening win over Johnson State. … Batur goes into the weekend only three kills shy of 100.
