Volleyball: Cadets drop four-gamer to PSU

NORTHFIELD, VT. – The senior front line tandem of middle hitter Ivana Batur (Zagreb, Croatia) and outside hitter April Byllaardt (Stormville, N.Y.) each posted nine kills, leading Norwich University in a four-game loss to Plattsburgh State Sept. 20.

Byllaardt's .163 individual attack percentage topped Coach Amanda Cuiffo's team. She also added a solo block and block assist. Batur ended the evening hitting .125 to go along with 10 digs, two solo blocks and a block assist. Other strong numbers for the Maroon and Gold (6-5) came from freshman outside hitter Alex Palmer (South Windsor, Conn.) with five kills, four assists, a service ace and six digs, junior right side hitter Gabrielle Miller (Grove City, Ohio) with 21 assists, and freshman outside hitter Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) with 19 digs.

Plattsburgh State improved to 8-6 on the season. The junior duo of Rosi Cummings and Theresa Lilly hammered a combined 25 kills to guide the Cardinal offense.

Norwich resumes a busy week with a 7 p.m. match at in-state opponent Lyndon State Thursday, Sept. 22. The Cadets return to Andrews Gymnasium for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference triangular against Lasell and Emmanuel Saturday, Sept. 24.
