Box Score 2 NEW HAVEN, CONN. – Norwich University finished with 59 kills while the opposition struggled to a -.030 attack percentage during a pair of volleyball wins Sept. 17.
Coach Amanda Cuiffo's Cadets improved to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. They upended host Albertus Magnus in three games and toppled Mitchell College in four games inside the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Center on AMC's campus.
Against AMC, senior middle hitter Ivana Batur (Zagreb, Croatia) hammered 10 kills and registered two solo blocks and one assisted block. Junior outside hitter Haley Vermes (Westborough, Mass.) added four kills and a .571 attack percentage. In the non-conference clash with Mitchell, the Cadets were led by senior middle hitter April Byllaardt (Stormville, N.Y.) with 10 kills and a solo block. Vermes stepped up again with six kills, while junior right side hitter Gabrielle Miller (Grove City, Ohio) tallied eight kills and 22 digs.
Norwich begins a busy four-match week when it hosts SUNY-Plattsburgh at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20.
