Box Score NASHUA, N.H. – The Cadets bounced back
from their recent setback against St. Joseph's (Me.) by
defeating the Raiders of Rivier College, 86-68, in the Muldoon
Athletic Center on Tuesday night.
The Cadets now hold a 15-6 overall record and are 7-2 in the
Great Northeast Athletic Conference, while the Raiders settle at
4-17 overall and 2-6 in the conference after tonight's
game.
Senior co-captains Christine Daniels and
Laurel McWilliams teamed up again to lead the
Cadets to success, as they both capitalized on double-double
performances. Daniels tallied 23 points and 12 boards, while
McWilliams grabbed 12 off the glass and put in 19 points. Classmate
Karissa Doyon also contributed double-digit
figures with 21 points.
Norwich controlled the momentum of the game from tipoff. A
jumper from Daniels gave the Cadets an early 2-0 lead, as freshman
Kristin Brown tallied the assist on the first play
of the game. The Raiders tied it up on their next possession, but
it would stand as the only time during the contest where the host
team would be even with their opponents.
With two minutes remaining in regulation time, Norwich held
their greatest lead at 22 points. The Raiders were able to bring
the spread down to 18 for the final score, but did not have what it
would take to overcome the Cadets.
Norwich will host their next GNAC game in Andrews Hall on
Saturday at 3 p.m. against Johnson & Wales. The game will
represent the Cadets' Pink Zone event and will also serve as
the team's “Senior Game,” honoring their four
graduating seniors.
