Box Score NORTHFIELD, VT. – Norwich University battled back at many
turns Dec. 3 but couldn't overcome visiting Bates in a 74-62
loss.
The Cadets, falling to 2-5 with the loss in the Ed Hockenbury
Classic finale, saw the Bobcats (4-1) open up 13 and 15-point
second half advantages. However, Coach Mark Zacher's squad
responded in both cases to trail by as little as nine. The home
side could get no closer. NU kept Bates close throughout the first
half and trailed only 32-29 at the break.
Freshman guard Aliah Curry (Windsor, Mass.) continued her
sparkling freshman campaign with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Senior center Jocelyn Fasulo (Contooncock, N.H.) registered a
double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Bates was topped by senior guard Kelsey Flaherty who was tabbed
tournament Most Valuable Player. She narrowly missed a
triple-double with 17 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds. Junior
guard Allie Beaulieu hit four critical three-pointers early in the
second half to get the Bobcats a double-digit advantage.
Norwich continues competition against the New England Small
College Athletic Conference Tuesday, Dec. 6 when Middlebury visits
Andrews Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
NOTES – Senior guard Karissa Doyon (Beecher Falls, Vt.)
earned all-tournament honors for the Maroon and Gold. She tallied
44 points over the weekend.
