Women's Soccer: Johnson & Wales Shuts out Cadets 3-0

Box Score

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Norwich women's soccer team was held scoreless for the first time in 2011 as the Cadets fell victim to three second half goals in a 3-0 loss at Johnson & Wales on Saturday in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

Neither side was able to score until the 65th minute when Johnson & Wales' Amanda Aguiar broke the ice and provided the Wildcats with the only lead they would need.

Just under nine minutes later, Samantha Reynolds increased the JWU lead to 2-0 when she converted on a penalty kick for her fifth goal of the season. Aguiar capped the scoring with her second goal of the match with just 20 seconds remaining to give JWU a 3-0 lead.

Senior goalkeeper Meghan Kennedy made two saves while taking her second loss of the season to drop to 5-2-1. Kara Collins picked up the win for JWU, turning aside all three shots she faced.

After scoring 30 goals in four matches, the NU offense has hit a rut its last two times out on the pitch with just one goal in 200 minutes of game action.

The Cadets return home to Howard Field on Monday looking to right the ship against Mount Ida in another GNAC contest. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
