Box Score LYNDONVILLE, Vt. - The women's basketball
team is off to a great start in 2011, grabbing their second
consecutive win at Lyndon State on Thursday night as they edged the
Hornets in Stannard Gymnasium, 80-76. The win advances the Cadets
to a 7-4 overall record, although they have yet to come
face-to-face with any conference teams on the schedule just yet.
Lyndon now sits with a 4-4 overall record.
Senior captain Christine Daniels, in a
career-best effort, netted 31 points against the Hornets and
continues her double-double streak in incredible fashion with 19
boards, 16 of which were on the defensive side for the Cadets.
Daniels now has seven consecutive double-doubles in her final
season wearing maroon and gold. In addition, she made two steals
and earned two assists.
Sophomore Jessalyn Sweeney also scored double
figures, contributing 13 points to the scoreboard for NU with a
5-of-11 effort inside the arc and sinking 3-of-6 free throws.
Sweeney made nine boards while being credited with two assists and
making a steal during the action.
Freshman Kristin Brown earned the team-high
three steals and recorded one assist while making nine points.
Norwich will play one more game on the road, as they face
Albertus Magnus at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The GNAC game will be the
first conference match-up for the Cadets this season. The team will
then return to their home court on Tuesday to host St.
Joseph's (Conn.) at 7 p.m. in Andrews Hall.
