SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Cadets
opened their 2011 schedule on the road at Skidmore on Wednesday
with an 81-72 win at the Williamson Sports Center. Norwich led
41-37 at the half against the Thoroughbreds and was able to keep
their lead on the opponent in the second half for success.
The first half of action for the Cadets was led by senior
Cori Boston and junior Josh
Cabrera, as they both tallied double-digit points to make
a big impact on the scoreboard against the Thoroughbreds offense.
Junior Antonio Davis kept the boards clear with
four defensive rebounds, five total boards.
Taking the court in the second half, the Cadets were able to put
more distance between them and their foe-Thoroughbreds. Boston
finished up with 23 points, as he was 7-of-12 shooting and 8-of-9
from the line. He also tallied nine boards, a steal and three
assists.
Cabrera netted 16 points, sinking two 3-pointers and was 6-of-9
in the arc. He managed two steals on the Thoroughbreds, while Davis
finished off the night with seven points and 10 boards, nine of
which were made to clear the Cadet territory.
Also contributing numbers to the Norwich win in his recent
return to the squad was junior Darell Marshall who
tallied 14 points and earned the game-high six assists.
Marshall's shooting strength was from the free-throw line,
where he sank 9-of-11 attempts.
Norwich remains on the road until Jan. 13 when they will host
Suffolk at 7 p.m. for a GNAC game held in Andrews Hall.
They'll play two conference games prior to returning to their
home court, as they face Albertus Magnus on Saturday at 3 p.m. and
St. Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
