PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Norwich University
Volleyball (6-3) won their first two of five matches Friday at the
Plattsburgh Cardinal Classic, overcoming SUNY – Cobleskill,
3-1 (25-12, 25-13, 19-25, and 25-18), followed by a 3-0 sweep of
the host college, the Plattsburgh Cardinals, who the Cadets
defeated in a commanding 25-16, 25-9, and 25-17 fashion.
In game one, junior April
Byllaardt led with 10 kills, while senior Molly
Rice earned 35 assists, four service aces, and
contributed with 10 digs. Junior Ivana
Batur also kept the zone clean with 10 digs and six
blocks.
In game two, senior Thea Evans
stepped up with 15 kills, as Rice earned an
additional 26 assists on the night. Byllaardt
tallied four service aces, while Rice and Batur
kept the Cardinals out of their territory with
Rice earning 12 digs and Batur
making two blocks in the match.
The Cadets follow up their success on Saturday, wrapping up the
Classic with three matches. Norwich will battle Keuka College in
the first match at noon at Plattsburgh State College.
