NORTHFIELD, Vt. –The Norwich University
softball team ended its regular season on Monday afternoon by
dropping both ends of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
doubleheader to Lasell College. The Lasers took an 8-5 decision in
the opener, before earning a 10-2 five-inning victory in the
nightcap.
Caitlin Wohlschlegel led Norwich (12-22, 9-15 GNAC) in the first
game, going 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. She
also scored three runs for the Cadets. Hallie Grennon was swinging
a hot bat in the opener as well, going 2-for-2 with two RBIs.
The Cadets, who will be the No. 8 seed in the upcoming GNAC
Tournament, were led by Whitney Grennon in the second game.
Grennon, who was playing her final home game as a member of the
Cadets, went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Jessalyn
Sweeney, meanwhile, went 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI.
Lasell improves to 19-19-1 (15-9 GNAC) following the sweep. The
Lasers will be the No. 5 seed in the GNAC Tournament, which means
Norwich and Lasell will meet in the event's first round on
Wednesday afternoon in Newton, Mass.
