MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Norwich
women's basketball team faced a tough 92-58 loss at
Middlebury on Saturday night in non-conference action. The Cadets
worked to overcome their in-state foes, the Panthers, in
competition over the Thanksgiving break, but were unable to catch
up to Middlebury on the court.
For Norwich, senior Karissa Doyon rose to the
challenge of the NESCAC Panthers by netting 20 points in the game,
as she went 7-of-15 in shooting. Doyon shot a perfect 2-of-2 in
3-pointers and 4-of-4 from the line in free-throws, while also
contributing two rebounds, a steal, and one assist in the
contest.
Senior captain Christine Daniels did what she
could to protect the Cadets' territory by recording 10 boards
and 18 points against the Panthers. Daniels was 8-of-20 in shooting
and achieved one block and three steals on the opponents'
home court.
The Cadets trailed 33-40 at the half, and were overcome in the
second frame with a 25-52 shooting deficit.
Norwich will return to action on Dec. 3, where they will host
Green Mountain College for a 6 p.m. game in Andrews Hall.
