Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – On the slick terrain of
Howard Field on a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon, the women
Cadets fell to the Lasers of Lasell College, 3-1 in a GNAC
contest.
Eleven minutes into the action, Lasell's junior Jessica
Taylor took a strike from outside the 18-yard box, placing it top
shelf and out of reach for the Cadets' senior goalie,
Alecia Wright.
Norwich's leading-scorer, sophomore Brittany
Casey tied the game four minutes later on a play by
sophomore Lisa Esparza. Casey and Lasers'
goalie, junior Elizabeth Stickley were caught in a footrace to the
ball, but Casey slid just in time to tuck the ball underneath a
diving Stickley.
Senior Allyson Bushey clicked with a play from junior Liz McGeoy
for the eventual winning goal of the game for the Lasers. Securing
the win, freshman Melissa Leonard scored her first collegiate goal
after a scrum in front of the net junior Jessica Taylor's
corner-kick.
Norwich (6-5, 4-3 GNAC) will be hosting Pine Manor on Saturday,
celebrating their homecoming weekend with a 12 p.m. kick-off. The
men's team will follow that action up at 2:30 p.m. when they
they host Mount Ida.
