Box Score PAXTON, Mass. – The Norwich football team amassed 556
yards rushing en route to an 81-7 thrashing of Anna Maria College
on Saturday in ECFC action.
Sophomore QB Kris
Sabourin ran for 116 yards and three touchdowns to
lead the Cadet offense.
Sophomore RB Danny
Triplett added two touchdowns and 81 yards on just
three carries, while Andrew
Fulford gained 97 yards.
Kyle
Marzeoti, Pat Sikora,
and Zach
Angelos each added a score to round out the Norwich
offense.
Sabourin opened the scoring just 2:33 into the
game on a 9-yard run. Just under a minute later Mike
Ohrenberger doubled the Cadets' lead to 14-0 with a
45-yard interception return for a touchdown.
The Norwich defense kept up the pressure as Zach
Sucharski recorded a safety to push the lead to 16-0.
After a Long Ding
field goal, Chris
Denton returned a punt 57 yards to push the lead to
26-0 after the Ding point after attempt was
good.
Anna Marie recorded its lone score of the game with 1:08 left in
the first quarter when Santino Simone hooked up with Dom Concepcion
for a 35-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 26-7 after Jamal
Mitchell's kick.
It was all Norwich from there however as
Sabourin opened the second quarter scoring with a
77-yard scamper with 12:14 left in the period. Triplett punched in
his first score of the game 4:30 minutes later to increase the lead
to 39-7.
Sabourin picked up his third and final score
with 2:46 remaining in the half on a 21-yard run to give the Cadets
a 46-7 lead heading into the locker room.
The onslaught continued on the opening kickoff of the second
half when Derius
Silas returned the kick 81 yards for a touchdown.
Marzeoti scored from 20 yards out and
Triplett picked up his second score of the game
with 4:55 remaining in the quarter to push the lead to 67-7.
Sikora and Angelos each added
2-yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter to round out the
scoring.
Norwich's 81 points broke a school record for most points scored
in a game. The previous high was 69 against Middlebury in 1974.
The 74-point margin of victory also broke the school record for
the largest margin of victory, which was previously a 65-0 win over
Fitchburg State in 1985.
The Cadets (7-1, 5-1 ECFC) have now won four straight games
heading into a first-place showdown with undefeated SUNY Maritime
on Saturday in Throggs Neck, N.Y. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
