BRUNSWICK, Maine - Sophomore F Emmond Bell
scored a goal and added an assist, and junior D Greg Eskedjian
dished out three assists to lead the No. 3-ranked Norwich
University men's hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Bowdoin
College in an ECAC East-NESCAC Interlock contest Friday evening at
Sidney J. Watson Arena.
Bowdoin (6-3-0, 4-2-0 NESCAC) opened the scoring at 4:52 of the
first period when Leland Fidler scored off assists from Graham
Sisson and Colin MacCormack. Norwich (10-0-2, 6-0-0 ECAC East)
knotted the score at 1-1 late in the first period when Bell scored
his fourth goal of the season off assists from sophomore D Pasha
Kozhokin and Eskedjian.
The Cadets took their first lead of the night midway through the
second period when senior F D.J. Fimiani scored his third marker of
the year off a feed from Eskedjian at the 11:45 mark. Bowdoin tied
it up at 2-2 less than four minutes later when Sisson scored a
power play goal off of passes from MacCormack and Mike Corbelle at
the 15:32 mark.
NU then scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the
closing minute of the second period when freshman F Steven
Schroeder potted his fifth goal of the season off a feed from
Eskedjian at the 19:32 mark.
Freshman F Blake Forkey added an insurance goal at 9:50 of the
third period. The tally, which was Forkey's ninth of the year, was
assisted by Bell and junior F Chad Anderson.
Norwich senior G Ryan Klingensmith made 21 saves to earn the
victory for the Cadets between the pipes. NU held a 29-23 edge in
shots en route to the victory.
Norwich will wrap up its weekend road trip to the state of Maine
on Saturday, Jan. 9, with a game against NESCAC rival Colby.
