The first half was a back and forth affair that featured seven ties and three lead changes. A three-point play by sophomore G Darell Marshall with 10 seconds left gave the Cadets a slim 34-31 halftime advantage.

JWU began the second half on a 10-2 spurt to take a 41-36 lead at the 16:16 mark. Norwich responded with an 11-0 run over the next three minutes to grab a 47-41 edge with 13:14 to play. The Wildcats used an 11-3 run to move in front 52-50 at the 8:45 mark, and the game see-sawed back and forth the rest of the way. Johnson & Wales held a 58-57 lead with 6:22 to play, but a basket by Davis and a three-pointer by Marshall sparked a 7-2 spurt by the Cadets, which gave Norwich a 64-60 advantage with 4:58 on the clock. NU did not trail again as the Cadets made all 12 of their free throw attempts in the final 3:45 to secure the victory.

Lamonte Thomas led Johnson & Wales (5-8, 2-4 GNAC) with a game-high 28 points, while Calvin Jones added 20.

Norwich scored 26 points off of 20 Johnson & Wales turnovers. The Cadets made 48.3 percent (28-of-58) of their shots, compared to just 40.3 percent (27-of-67) for the Wildcats. NU also held a commanding edge at the free throw line, converting 24-of-36, compared to just 13-of-24 for JWU.

Norwich returns to action on Monday, Jan. 18, when the Cadets host GNAC rival Mount Ida College at Andrews Hall at 7 p.m.
