NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University
volleyball team saw its 10-game win streak end on Saturday at
Andrews Hall, as the Cadets were dealt identical 3-0 sweeps by
Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents Emerson and
Johnson & Wales.
Emerson dominated the opening match, winning by set scores of
25-12, 25-14 and 25-8. JWU was nearly as dominant in the nightcap,
winning by set scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-18. The Cadets fall to
10-4 (1-2 GNAC) following the sweep.
Senior Lisset Magdaleno (five kills, 14 digs) and junior Molly
Rice (five assists) led NU against Emerson. Magdaleno (seven
kills), Rice (11 assists) and junior Thea Evans (nine digs) paced
the Cadets against Johnson & Wales.
Norwich will step out of conference play on Thursday, Oct. 1,
when the Cadets travel to Middlebury, Vt., to face on in-state
rival Middlebury College. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
