NASHUA, N.H. - Christine Daniels posted her
fifth double-double of the season, pouring in a career-high 27

past Rivier, 73-63, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
women's basketball game Tuesday night.

(14-6, 7-2 GNAC), which moves into a tie for second place in the
conference standings. Erica Rate chipped in 13 points, and Ally
Daniels netted nine points for the Cadets, who led from the opening
minute.
Norwich started strong, outscoring Rivier 12-5 over the first
4:43 of the contest. A 10-4 run by the Raiders pulled the hosts to
within one point at 16-15 with 12:51 to play before halftime. The
Cadets led 18-17 before reeling off five unanswered points to take
a 23-17 advantage at the 11:12 mark. Norwich increased its lead to
as many as 10 points later in the half, before settling for a 37-31
edge at the intermission.
The Cadets outscored the Raiders 21-9 over the first 9:31 of the
second half to take a 58-40 lead. Rivier responded with an 18-6 run
over the next 7:43 to trim Norwich's lead down to 64-58 with 1:48
to play. That was as close as the Raiders would get, though,
as the Cadets knocked down six straight free throws in the final
1:13 to preserve the key road victory.
Rivier (14-8, 6-4 GNAC) was led by Blair Carpenter and Jessica
Mellen, who each scored 12 points apiece. Allie Parrent added 11
points for the Raiders, while Justine Nims and Danielle Stoodley
each netted 10.
Norwich shot 46.7 percent from the floor in the game, while
Rivier made just 35.0 percent of its field goals. The Cadets held a
commanding 44-27 rebounding advantage.
Norwich will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 14, when the
Cadets host St. Joseph's (Maine) in the team's final regular season
home game. Tip-off from Andrews Hall is slated for 3 p.m.
