SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Michelle Royals netted a
game-high 17 points and Tess Donie added 10 points off the bench as
Trinity steamrolled Norwich, 57-33, in women's basketball action at
the Golden Bear Challenge on Saturday night.
The Bantams (1-0) used an 18-2 first half run to turn a 12-11
deficit at the 8:36 mark into a 29-14 lead with 1:17 to lay before
halftime. Norwich rattled off a 6-0 scoring spurt that spanned the
first and second halves to close to within 29-20 early in the
second stanza, but Trinity scored the next nine points to open up a
38-20 lead with 14:00 remaining.
The Cadets (1-1) got no closer than 12 points the rest of the
way as the Bantams cruised to the victory. Norwich was led by Ally
Daniels, who scored a team-high nine points. Tara Stevenson chipped
in eight points off the bench.
Trinity outscored Norwich in the paint, 28-8. The Bantams held
the Cadets to just 34.1 percent (14-of-41) shooting from the field.
Norwich will play Bay Path College in the Golden Bear Challenge
Consolation Game on Sunday, Nov. 22. Tip-off for the third-place
contest is set for 12 p.m.
