NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's
swimming and diving team won 13 of the 15 swimming events en route
to a comfortable 178-57 victory over Colby-Sawyer College on
Saturday afternoon at Goodyear Pool.
Peter Bue, Joe Moeller and Simon Hugh each had a hand in three
victories to lead the Cadets (1-1).
Bue, who has looked good in each of the team's first two meets,
placed first in the 50-yard backstroke (28.24 seconds) and took
first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.15). Moeller, meanwhile, won
the 50-yard butterfly (25.92) and the 100-yard butterfly (56.34).
Hugh took the gold in both the 50-yard freestyle (23.67) and the
100-yard breaststroke (1:05.19).
The three then teamed with Zander Fields to win the 200-yard
medley relay in a clocking of 1:46.00.
Fields had success individually as well, winning the 100-yard
freestyle (52.09).
Mike Zemanek was a double winner for the Cadets as well, taking
first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.57) and the 500-yard
freestyle (5:21.28).
Jake Schaefer and Chris Hevey rounded out NU's list of winners
on the day with Schaefer taking gold in the 1,000-yard freestyle
(11:20.16) and Hevey winning the 50-yard breaststroke (31.40).
Norwich returns to Goodyear Pool on Wednesday, Nov. 18, when the
Cadets host St. Michael's College at 4 p.m.
