CASTLETON, Vt - The Norwich University volleyball team won its third straight match on Tuesday evening, defeating in-state rival Castleton State College, 3-0, at Glenbrook Gymnasium. The Cadets got past the Spartans by set scores of 25-23, 25-18 and 25-16.

Senior Lisset Magdaleno and sophomore April Bylaardt led the Norwich attack with 10 kills apiece. Junior Thea Evans added eight kills, while junior setter Molly Rice chipped in three kills and ran the offense with aplomb, tallying 27 assists. Rice and Magdaleno were also solid on serve, contributing four and three service aces, respectively.

Ashley Kepaa and Jamie Lemieux led Castleton (10-7) with seven kills each. Lemieux also added three service aces. Setter Jennifer Vibert tallied 16 assists and four service aces.

Norwich concludes its Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the team travels to Newton, Mass., to battle league rivals Mount Ida and St. Joseph's (Maine). Action is scheduled to get started at 12 p.m.
