NASHUA, N.H. - The Norwich University
volleyball team split a pair of matches versus Great Northeast
Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents Saturday, as the Cadets lost
to Rivier, 3-0, before defeating St. Joseph (Conn.), 3-0.
Rivier handled the Cadets in the opener, defeating Norwich by
set scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-11. Junior Thea Evans led Norwich
with five kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Senior Lisset
Magdaleno added five kills and five digs, while junior Molly Rice
chipped in 13 assists and five digs.
In the second match, Norwich (12-8, 3-4 GNAC) cruised past St.
Joseph, winning by set scores of 25-17, 25-9 and 25-15. Sophomore
Brittany Palmer, who registered seven kills, three service aces and
three blocks, paced NU. Magdaleno chipped in nine kills, three
blocks and two service aces, while Rice posted 19 assists, four
service aces and four digs.
The Cadets will step out of conference play on Wednesday, Oct.
14, when they travel to Plymouth, N.H., to take on non-league rival
Plymouth State University. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
