Box Score
JOHNSON, Vt. - The Norwich University women's
soccer team struck for three goals in a span of 7:25 in the first
half to take a 3-0 lead into halftime, and the Cadets cruised to a
4-0 victory over Johnson State in a non-conference match Wednesday
afternoon at Minaert Field.
Caitlin Wohlschlegel got Norwich on the board first when she
placed a ball over the head of Johnson State goalkeeper Elizabeth
Wallace at the 19:38 mark. Six minutes later, Becky lofted a pass
to the far post that Ashley Sanford redirected past Wallace for the
second Cadet goal. Then, just 1:40 later Emily Chandler netted
an unassisted goal to make the margin 3-0.
Norwich (2-2) carried that three-goal lead into the half, and
the Cadets were not challenged in the second stanza as NU head
coach Tyler Renaud allowed his reserves to play the majority of the
period.
Jessica Carroll capped the scoring for the Cadets with a goal in
the 52nd minute.
Meghan Kennedy earned the shutout in goal for Norwich, despite
not facing a single shot in 90 minutes of action. Wallace made 13
saves for Johnson State (1-3).
The Cadets outshot the Badgers, 25-2. The Cadets held a 5-1 edge
in corner kicks.
Norwich kicks off its GNAC slate on Saturday, Sept. 13, when the
Cadets travel to Nashua, N.H., to take on Rivier. Kickoff is set
for 1 p.m.
