BRATTLEBORO, Vt. - The Norwich University
baseball team split a GNAC doubleheader versus Albertus Magnus on
Monday, winning 4-3 in the opening game before dropping a 15-11
decision in the nightcap.
The Cadets (2-16, 1-9 GNAC) received excellent starting pitching
out of Jason Nickerson in the opener as the senior pitched all nine
innings en route to earning the win on the mound.
David Wygonski singled home the game-winning run in the bottom
of the ninth send the Cadets to their first win since the team
returns from its spring break trip to Florida.
Kory Delehanty and Dominic Sorrentino each went 2-for-4 to help
pace the NU offense in the first game.
In the nightcap, Norwich was outslugged by Albertus Magnus, as
the Cadets dropped a wild 15-11 verdict in six innings. The game
was called after six frames because of darkness.
Tim O'Connor went 2-for-4 and scored two runs, while Kyle Jolin
went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in.
Norwich returns to action on Tuesday, April 15, when the Cadets
travel to Castleton, Vt., to battle in-state rival Castleton State.
