NASHUA, N.H. -The Norwich University softball
team split a conference doubleheader with GNAC foe Rivier on
Saturday. The Cadets took a 2-1 decision in the first game, but
lost 11-2 in the nightcap.
Norwich moves to 14-12 (10-8 GNAC) following the split.
The Cadets, who were stymied for most of the day, scored two
unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win game one.
Norwich loaded the bases in the inning, and Lindsay Carey singled
home both runs as the Cadets overcame a 1-0 deficit.
Mackenzie Pratt scattered seven hits over seven innings to earn
the win in the circle for NU.
Rivier broke open a 2-2 contest in game two with a seven-run
sixth inning to gain the split. Norwich generated just four hits in
the nightcap.
Norwich returns to action on Sunday, April 13, when the Cadets
travel to Boston to take on GNAC opponent Emerson in a conference
doubleheader.
