NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Norwich University
softball team capped a perfect weekend in GNAC competition by
sweeping conference rival Albertus Magnus in a doubleheader on
Sunday. The Cadets, who swept Emmanuel on Saturday, won the first
game, 16-0, before taking a 23-3 decision in the nightcap.
Norwich improves to 8-4 (4-0 GNAC) with the victories.
Mackenzie Pratt silenced the Albertus Magnus bats in the opener,
striking out seven and allowing just two hits in four innings of
work in the first game. Jazmin Stevens and Codi Collins paced the
Norwich offense, as they combined to go 6-for-8 with seven runs
scored.
In the nightcap, Norwich exploded for 23 runs. Collins was
2-for4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Marley Balasco went
1-for-2 with five runs scored and one run batted in. Whitney
Grennon homered and drove in five runs as well.
Norwich returns to action on Friday, April 4, when the Cadets
travel to West Hartford, Conn., to face GNAC opponent St. Joseph
(Conn.) in a doubleheader.
