BOSTON - The Norwich University baseball team
dropped both ends of its GNAC doubleheader versus Suffolk on
Sunday, losing 10-2 in the opening game and 6-3 in the nightcap.
The Cadets fall to 1-11 (0-4 GNAC), while the Rams improve to
12-4 (4-0 GNAC).
Suffolk started quickly in game one, scoring four runs in the
first inning, and taking a 5-0 lead after two frames. Norwich got
two runs back in the third on Rob Knox's two-run single, trimming
the Cadets' deficit to 5-2. That was as close as NU would get,
though, as Suffolk plated single runs in the fourth and sixth
innings, before adding three more in the seventh.
In the second game, Norwich took an early 2-0 lead on Donovan
Brown's two-run double in the first inning. Suffolk tied the game
with single runs in the second and third innings, before pulling
ahead with two more runs in the fourth. The Rams added a run in the
sixth and one more in the seventh to take a 6-2 lead going into the
bottom of that frame. NU scored once in the bottom of the seventh
to close out the scoring.
Norwich returns to action on Thursday, April 3, when the Cadets
travel to Colchester, Vt., to battle in-state rival St. Michael's.
First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m.
