After the Lasers scored two points at the 9:54 mark, NU ripped off eight straight points to take a commanding 52-37 lead with 7:01 to play. Norwich responded by scoring nine unanswered points to tie the contest at 21-21 at the 8:22 mark. Shappy scored seven of the Cadets' nine points during the surge as the senior began the run with two free throws and capped it with a fast break lay-up.

Six straight points by Lasell gave the visitors a 27-21 lead at the 6:01 mark, and the Lasers held onto the lead throughout the remainder of the half. Lasell never trailed in opening 20 minutes, and it took a 33-31 edge into halftime. Carla Zinno netted 13 first half points to lead all scorers, while Shauna Kelly scored 10 points.
