ELMIRA, N.Y. - The Norwich University women's
ice hockey team dropped its second straight game to start the
season, falling 8-0 to No. 2 ranked Elmira on Sunday afternoon.
Elmira (2-0) scored a short-handed goal in the first period, and
led 1-0 after 20 minutes. The Soaring Eagles exploded for four
goals in the second stanza, before adding three more in the third.
Norwich (0-2) started freshman goaltender Chiara Traversa
between the pipes, and the Torino, Italy, native made 40 saves on
the day.
Elmira outshot Norwich, 48-34. The Cadets were 0-for-8 on the
power play for the second straight game.
Norwich returns to action on Friday, Nov. 7, when the Cadets
travel to Manchester, N.H., to take on ECAC East rival St. Anselm.
Faceoff is slated for 7 p.m.
