COLCHESTER, Vt. - Kayla Coady and Jamie Huntley
scored two goals apiece to lead No. 6-ranked Elmira past Norwich,
4-0, in women's hockey action on Friday evening in the first round
of the St. Michael's Tournament.
The win moves Elmira to 9-2-0 on the season, while NU falls to
3-3-1.
Coady opened the scoring at the 11:22 mark. She added her second
tally of the game with 3:15 to play in the opening period as Elmira
carried a 2-0 lead into the second stanza.
Huntley made it 3-0 in favor of Elmira at the 13:23 mark of the
second period, and she added another insurance goal just two
minutes later at the 11:11 mark to account for the scoring.
Norwich was outshot, 47-15, in the contest, and could not get
the offense going. Annie DiVito paced the Cadets' attack with five
shots on goal, while Kelsey Cone chipped in three shots on goal.
The Cadets return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5, when the team
takes on St. Michael's in the second round of the St. Michael's
Tournament. Faceoff is slated for 4 p.m.
