NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Chris Prybella won three
individual races, and helped the Cadets' 4x100 yard relay team set
the Goodyear Pool record as the Norwich men's swimming and diving
team swept Gordon and Elms on Saturday afternoon. NU beat Gordon,
90-25, and the Cadets upended Elms, 94-25.
The Cadets improve 8-3 with the two victories.
One of the Cadets top freestylers, Prybella swept the 50-, 100-
and 200-yard freestyle events. The junior from Philadelphia, Pa.,
won the 50-yard freestyle with a clocking of 22.22. He then went on
to capture gold in the 100-yard freestyle (49.23) and the 200-yard
freestyle (1:49.94).
He then teamed with Ben Courtney, Peter Bue and Kyle Kenia to
win the 4x100-yard freestyle relay in a Goodyear Pool record time
of 3:19.20. The clocking broke the previous pool record, which was
established in 1985.
Courtney, Bue, Kenia and Joe Moeller helped the Cadets sweep the
relay events as the foursome teamed up to win the 200-yard medley
relay with a clocking of 1:46.11.
Courtney went on to win a pair of individual events in the pool,
taking the first-place ribbon in the 50-ayrd backstroke (26.10) and
the 100-yard backstroke (56.60).
Moeller won three individual swimming events, taking gold in the
100-yard breaststroke (1:10.30), the 100-yard butterfly (55.50) and
the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.93).
Kenia and Bue each won one individual event with Kenia touching
the wall first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.18), and Bue winning
the 50-yard butterfly (25.43).
Ari Polivy rounded out Norwich's list of winners in the pool,
taking gold in the 50-yard breaststroke with a clocking of 31.99.
Norwich closes out the dual meet portion of its 2007-08 schedule
on Tuesday, Jan. 29, when the Cadets travel to Colchester, Vt., to
take on St. Michael's at 4 p.m.
