NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Meghan Hoskins, Nikki
Szczepanski and Leanne Waterman each scored a goal to lead the
Norwich women's soccer team past Albertus Magnus, 3-1, Saturday
afternoon at Howard Field. It marked the fifth straight win for the
Cadets, who improve to 6-2-0, 4-0-0 GNAC.
Albertus Magnus (5-2-0, 3-2-0 GNAC) opened up a quick 1-0 lead
as Sam Gigliotti scored on a breakaway following a NU turnover to
put the Falcons on top at the 3:36 mark.
Norwich was unable to dent the back of the net until Hoskins
produced the equalizer in the 42nd minute off a free kick.
Szczepanski put the Cadets on top for the first time with her
unassisted tally in the 76th minute. Waterman added an insurance
goal for NU, heading the ball into the net in the 85th minute.
Alecia Wright went the distance for the Cadets in goal, turning
away two of the three shots she faced to earn the victory.
Norwich outshot Albertus Magnus, 21-4, and the Cadets held a 6-3
advantage in corner kicks.
The Norwich women's soccer team resumes its three-match
homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 26, when the squad welcomes Mount Ida
to Howard Field for a GNAC contest. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
