POTSDAM, N.Y. - Karissa Doyon scored the
game-winning goal in the 39th minute and Nicki Hunsicker made five
saves as the Norwich women's soccer team kicked off its 2007 season
with a 1-0 victory over Clarkson on Saturday afternoon.
Doyon, a freshman from Beecher Falls, Vt., converted a cross for
her first career goal. The Cadets begin the year 1-0-0.
Hunsicker, the Cadets' freshman keeper, made the lead stand up,
making a plethora of outstanding saves in order to preserve the
victory.
Freshman Caitlin Wohlschlegel and sophomores Meghan Hoskins and
Allyson Allen turned in strong performances for Norwich. The Cadets
outshot Clarkson, 10-9.
The Norwich women's soccer team wraps up play at the Clarkson
Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 2, when battle St. Lawrence at 2:30
p.m.
