NEWTON, Mass. – The Norwich volleyball team won its second match in a row on Saturday, getting past Mount Ida, 3-2, in a GNAC contest. The big league victory moves NU's record to 9-4 overall (4-2 GNAC).
The contest was hard-fought throughout with the Cadets winning by game scores of 32-34, 30-23, 34-32, 17-30 and 15-13.
Once again, Molly Rice put up huge numbers for Norwich, registering 40 assists and 20 digs. Alicia Chamness recorded a team-high 24 kills, while Keira Holmes notched a team-best 24 digs. Amanda Plachek added 22 digs, while Lisset Magdaleno chipped in with 21 digs and five blocks.
Kelsey Breitfeld contributed a team-best four service aces, while Ami Fuller added four blocks.
The Norwich volleyball team returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 7, when the Cadets are slated to face off against a pair of GNAC opponents. NU will battle Rivier at 11 a.m., before tangling with Simmons at 1 p.m.
