WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Alicia Chamness returned
from injury and led the Norwich women's volleyball team to a 3-0
victory over St. Joseph (Conn.) in the team's regular season finale
on Saturday afternoon. The Cadets close their second varsity season
with an impressive 16-7 record (9-4 GNAC).
NU will now enter the GNAC Tournament as the No. 5 seed. The
Cadets won by scores of 30-12, 30-20 and 30-21.
Chamness, who had been sidelined for the last couple of weeks,
came back strong with a team-high 14 kills and a team-best 13 digs.
Lisset Magdaleno also put forth a strong game, registering 10
kills and eight digs. Molly Rice dished out a team-leading 31
assists, eight service aces and seven digs. Amanda Plachek,
meanwhile, chipped in with nine kills.
Norwich will take on fourth-seeded Lasell in the GNAC playoffs
on Tuesday, Oct. 30. The Cadets lost a five-game match to the
Lasers, 3-2, during the regular season.
