NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich women's
volleyball team won its second straight match on Thursday evening,
defeating visiting MCLA, 3-2, at Andrews Hall. The Cadets (12-7)
won the first two games, but were extended to five as MCLA refused
to go away quietly. The game scores were: 30-24, 33-31, 27-30,
23-30 and 15-10.
Molly Rice and Lisset Magdaleno led NU as each freshman
registered a double-double. Rice recorded a team-high 37 assists
and 12 digs, while Magdaleno added 14 kills and 17 digs.
Ami Fuller smacked a team-best 26 kills and also registered
three solo blocks. Keira Holmes led the Cadets with 18 digs, while
Kelsey Breitfeld chipped in 15 digs.
Jessica Bielski was on top of her game from the back line,
serving up a team-high eight service aces. Amanda Plachek
contributed four aces of her own.
The Norwich women's volleyball team returns to GNAC competition
on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Cadets host St. Joseph's (Maine) and
Pine Manor at Andrews Hall. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
