Laura Dunn

Laura Dunn is in her fifth seasonat the helm of the Norwich University Swimming and DivingProgram.

The North Pomfret, Vt., nativestarted swimming year-round at the age of eight, when she joinedthe North Country Aquatic Club (NCAC). A graduate of WoodstockUnion High School, Dunn was a multiple Vermont state record-holderas a swimmer for the Woodstock Recreational Department.

Dunn was a four-year varsity memberof the swim team at the College of Wooster, earning recognition asan All-American 13 times (1998, 1999, 2000). She was a formerschool record-holder in the 200-yard freestyle and as a member ofmultiple relays.

Dunn began her coaching career atOrrville YMCA before moving on to Colby-Sawyer College a yearlater. As an assistant she helped guide the Charger program in itsinfancy from 2001-03 while simultaneously working for the NorthCountry Aquatic Club. Dunn left her position at Colby-Sawyer afterbeing elevated to head assistant coach for the NCAC.

While at the NCAC Dunn worked atthe University of Texas at Austin swim camp  in the summers of2003 and 2004. While there she worked with some of the top swimmingcoaches in the country, including the most recent U.S. men’sOlympic coach.

Dunn arrived at NU in the fall of2005 as an assistant to head coach Steve Looke. She received theNEISDA Championship “Men’s Coach of the Year”award in 2007. Dunn has been the coach for most of the team recordson the men’s record board.
