Julie Craig

Julie Craig enters her fourth season as the head softball coach at Norwich in 2017.

The 1998 alumnus of Norwich University guided the Cadets to a 18-18 record in her inaugural year at the helm of her alma mater in 2014. Norwich finished fifth in the GNAC Tournament after winning its first two games and then dropping the next two. She followed up with a 10-20 record in 2015. Last season, NU went 17-19, including a 15-7 mark in GNAC play which was good for fourth in the regular season. Overall, she has guided NU to a 45-57 record.

Craig coached three GNAC All-Conference selections in 2014 with Abby Belcher earning First Team honors, while Kelly Travers and Corinne Baita earned Second and Third Team honors respectively. She had two more in 2015 with Melissa Rome and Payton Warner earned Third Team honors. She brought her total to eight GNAC All-Conference selections in three years with three more in 2016 with Taylor Morris (First Team), Rachel Johnson (Third Team) and Emily Oliver (Third Team) all earning honors.

Craig was a four-year member of the NU softball program from 1994-1997. She also was an assistant coach with the 1998 squad while she finished up her degree.

Craig made an instant impact as a freshman, leading the Cadets in nine offensive categories including hits, runs, doubles, slugging percentage and on-base percentage. In her final two years, Norwich compiled a 29-14-1 record, which included a GNAC semifinal appearance in her junior season.

Craig won the Coaches Award in 1997 and was GNAC Honorable Mention All-Conference in 1996.
After graduating from Norwich, Craig served active duty in the Army from 1999-2011. In 2007, she played for the All-Army softball squad.

In February 2013, Craig returned to Norwich and now serves as the Army ROTC Recruiting Operations Officer.

Craig takes over the reins of the program from Greg McGrath, who compiled a 69-72 record over his four years, which included playoff appearances in three of the four years.
