Michael Gonneville

Michael Gonneville '77 enters his second season as an assistant coach for the women's soccer team in 2024.

Gonneville, a seasoned educator and coach, brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to the team.

His remarkable coaching career began in 1978.  Gonneville organized and directed the Northfield Youth Soccer/Dynamos Soccer Club and the Northfield High School Girl's Soccer program until 2004.  His leadership and coaching acumen led the teams to an impressive tally of 15 State Championships.  Furthermore, Gonneville's exceptional coaching skills were recognized nationally, earning him the title of NSCAA National Coach of the Year three times.

Under his guidance, his teams received 10 NSCAA Team Academic/All-American Awards, demonstrating his commitment to excellence both on and off the field.  In 2001, his invaluable contributions to the sport were acknowledged with the program's induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

In addition to his illustrious coaching career, Gonneville has been a dedicated physical education teacher at Northfield Elementary School since 1978.  His commitment to education is further demonstrated by his academic achievements, having graduated from Norwich in 1977 and earning a Master’s degree in 1978.
