The Norwich University men's and women's wrestling teams announced the hiring of Wrestling World Championships bronze medalist Alyssa Lampe as a joint assistant coach.
"I'm fired up to have Alyssa Lampe join our coaching staff," Women's Wrestling Head Coach Connor Keating said. "She was a high-level competitor with years of international wrestling experience and brings a deep arsenal of strong techniques. But maybe even more important than her accomplishments on the mat is her passion for wrestling and helping athletes grow into more confident, capable people."
Lampe represented Team USA at the 2016 and 2021 Olympics, highlighting a sensational career with the United States Wrestling Team, where she qualified for World Championships five times in six years, earning bronze medal finishes twice in 2012 and 2013. The finish in 2013 earned Lampe USAW's "Women's Wrestler of the Year". During this time, she trained with the Norwich Wrestling team, forging an existing relationship with coaches Keating and Whitney.
During her tenure at USA Wrestling, Lampe also lent a helping hand by coaching at wrestling camps in Wisconsin, in addition to Wayland Baptist University camps, helping athletes enhance their skills and technique.
"I'm beyond excited and incredibly grateful to welcome Coach Alyssa Lampe to our program as the new Assistant Men's and Women's Wrestling Coach," Men's Wrestling Head Coach Alex Whitney said. "Her wealth of technical knowledge, competitive experience, and relentless pursuit of excellence make her an invaluable addition to our team. She knows exactly what it takes to reach the top—and more importantly, how to help others get there too. We're lucky to have her."
