Alfie the Mini enters her fourth season at Norwich University and sixth year as a full-time member of a collegiate strength and conditioning staff.
Alfie began a new career in 2018, moving to Colorado and meeting Coach Caulfield, who was volunteering for a local rescue called Barkable that helps place dogs in need into loving homes. In the Fall of 2019, Coach C. and Alfie took their skills to the S&C program at Colorado College, where she quickly gained attention and fame in the weight room and athletic training rooms for her keen sense of athletes in need of a wellness "pick me up" on a given day. She was featured in local press, often including the Colorado Springs Gazette and KRDO TV, featuring her work with CC student-athletes.
Alfie took her professional career to the next level in the summer of 2022, becoming a Certified Therapy Dog by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs (WY), and now uses her diverse skill set to help all types of people feel more comfortable in any setting and spread love in every room she walks into.
At Norwich, she has become a famous face on campus, always quick with a smile or short bark to remind people to bend down to pet her. She is also known to spend a weeknight or two visiting dorms (especially Rooks) along with some of her favorite athletes and helping to brighten the days for any student on campus.
She spends many long days in the gym. She supports all aspects of the S&C program, especially anything that involves lying on the ground, which gives her an advantage in being closer to her favorite humans (all of them). In her downtime, she likes swimming in the Dog River near campus, romping around Paine Mountain, hiking, skiing, or mountain biking with Coach Caulfield.
