Women's Lacrosse: Cadets tie program win record, extend winning streak to 12 with victory at Rivier

NASHUA, N.H. - The Norwich University women's lacrosse team continued their magical 2025 campaign on Saturday afternoon, notching a 10-5 win over Rivier University at Joanne Merrill Field to match the program's single-season win record and push their current winning streak to 12 straight games.

The Cadets improved to 14-1 overall and remained perfect in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 10-0, tying the 2012 squad for the most wins in a single season.  Norwich remains the only unbeaten team in conference play, with a pivotal showdown against Emmanuel College looming on Tuesday, Apr. 22, that will decide the GNAC North Division crown.

Sophomore attacker Caitlyn Fielder (East Calais, Vt.) once again led the charge, netting four goals, including back-to-back strikes in the second quarter to give Norwich the lead for good.  Quinn Mustone (Medford, Mass.) and Breanna Ricker (Laconia, N.H.) each tallied twice, while Caitlin Slider (Thetford Center, Vt.) and Sophie Zemianek (St. Albans, Vt.) chipped in one apiece.  Ellie Moriarty (Stowe, Vt.) dished out the Cadets' lone assist.

Defensively, Norwich forced 16 turnovers, led by three apiece from Julia Proto (Orange, Conn.) and Celine Juneau (Chazy, N.Y.), and held Rivier to just 14 successful clears on 26 attempts.  Fielder collected four ground balls, while Athena Merck (West Yarmouth, Mass.) added three, helping Norwich win the ground ball battle, 22-14.

The Raiders struck first with a pair of goals in the opening 10 minutes, but Slider got the Cadets on the board off a crisp pass from Moriarty.  Fielder buried two straight to swing momentum Norwich's way at 3-2.  Rivier tied the game again before the Cadets ripped off four straight scores, which included tallies from Mustone, Zemianek, and a pair from Fielder, to take a 7-3 lead heading into the final frame.

In the fourth, Rivier managed to get within three, but the Cadets slammed the door shut on the Raiders' comeback chances.  Ricker scored twice down the stretch, and Mustone sandwiched the scoring with a man-up goal to help secure the five-goal cushion.

Bailey Manning-Ingala (West Hartford, Conn.) continued her stellar form in net, making eight saves across 60 minutes to improve to 10-1 on the season.

The Cadets now turn their attention to a crucial regular-season finale on Tuesday, Apr. 22, as they host Emmanuel College at 4:00 p.m. on Sabine Field.  The winner will clinch the top seed in the North Division ahead of next week's GNAC Tournament.
