NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University women's lacrosse team continued its tear through Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) competition with a dominant 15-1 victory over Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon at Sabine Field, delivering a statement win on Senior Day.

The Cadets improved to 12-1 overall and 8-0 in GNAC play, extending their winning streak to 10 games, the second-longest streak in program history.  Saturday also marked the fourth time in the last five games that Norwich has held an opponent to five goals or fewer.

Nine different Cadets found the back of the net, led by Caitlyn Fielder (East Calais, Vt.) with a hat trick and a game-high five draw controls.  Sophie Zemianek (St. Albans, Vt.), Julia Gutke (Stockholm, Sweden), Neris Archambault (Pepperell, Mass.), and Quinn Mustone (Medford, Mass.) each scored twice, while Athena Merck (West Yarmouth, Mass.), Ellie Moriarty (Stowe, Vt.), Breanna Ricker (Laconia, N.H.), and Vivian Buntin (Middlebury, Conn.) added one goal apiece to round out the well-balanced effort.

Moriarty led the team in assists with two, while Buntin and Caitlin Slider (Thetford Center, Vt.) also chipped in helpers.  The Cadets tallied seven total assists on 15 goals, showcasing sharp ball movement and cohesive team play in the attacking third.

Norwich wasted no time taking control, opening up a 4-0 lead in the first quarter with goals from four different scorers.  The Cadets extended that lead to 6-0 midway through the second before Anna Maria capitalized on a man-up opportunity for its lone goal of the contest with 6:30 remaining in the half.  Norwich responded emphatically, closing the half on a 3-0 run to take a 9-1 lead into the break.

The second half was all Norwich, as the Cadets locked down defensively and pitched a shutout over the final 30 minutes.  Six unanswered goals in the fourth quarter sealed the wire-to-wire victory.

During halftime, the women's lacrosse program honored its 12 graduating seniors in a heartfelt Senior Day ceremony.  Graduate students Celine Juneau (Chazy, N.Y.), Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.), Neris Archambault, and Carlie Henning (Dawsonville, Ga.) were celebrated alongside seniors Julia Gutke, Quinn Mustone, Lindsey Parker (Wells, Maine), Ellie Moriarty, Sarah Moshrefi (Leesburg, Va.), and Julia Proto (Orange, Conn.). The ceremony also recognized the contributions of team manager Lexi Adams and student assistant coach Kyle Dunn, highlighting their dedication and impact on the program both on and off the field.

Norwich was relentless defensively, as the Cadets forced 29 turnovers and limited the AMCATS to just three shots on goal.  Fielder was all over the field, contributing four caused turnovers, three ground balls, and a team-high six draw controls in a commanding two-way performance.  Proto, Archambault, and Mustone each registered three caused turnovers, while Parker and Moshrefi helped anchor the midfield and transition game.

In goal, Henning earned the start and played all 60 minutes, making two saves to improve her record to a perfect 4-0 on the season.  She kept the AMCATS off the scoreboard for the final 36 minutes, calmly directing the Cadet defense and facilitating clear attempts.

Norwich dominated every major statistical category, outshooting Anna Maria 36-7 and holding a 31-3 advantage in shots on goal.  The Cadets won 13 of 18 draw controls, completed eight clear attempts while holding Anna Maria to a 6-for-30 mark, and scooped up 25 ground balls to the AMCATS' 13. Norwich also converted on 1-of-2 free-position attempts while holding Anna Maria to 0-for-1.

With the program's top seed in the GNAC North Division still up for grabs, the Cadets return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 16, hosting Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 5:00 p.m. on Sabine Field in a crucial divisional showdown. Norwich will then close out the regular season on the road at Rivier University on Saturday, Apr. 19, looking to carry its momentum into the postseason.
