NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams celebrated Senior Day in resounding fashion on Saturday morning, as the Cadet women took down Elms College while the Norwich men competed against one another in the final home meet of the season at Goodyear Pool.
The Norwich women claimed victory in every single event throughout the day, topping their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes, 222-54.
The four-woman team of
Kylie Farris (Leander, Texas), Alannah Kelliher (Middleboro, Mass.), Maria Piekarczyk (Dudley, Mass.), and
Kaylin Creel (Huntersville, N.C.) provided Norwich's first win on the day, posting a 2:05.72 effort in the 200 medley relay.Â
Aleqk Sierra Martinez (Medford, Mass.), Will Thompson (Downingtown, Pa.), Arthur Abrams (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), and
Martin Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.) were victorious against their teammates in the Norwich men's 200 medley relay event.
Brandy Lewis (Strafford, Vt.) was the first individual winner for the Cadets, swimming 11:50.55 in the 1000 freestyle, before
Andrew Clark (Acworth, Ga.) logged a 10:36.51 time in the men's 1000 freestyle.
Jenna Tschida (Goffstown, N.H.), Kristian Adlianitski (Cheshire, Conn.), Deanna Parot (San Diego, Calif.), Drew Bylow (Monroe, Mich.), Kelliher, Thompson, Piekarczyk,
Martin Adlianitski, and
Vicente Velasquez (New Windsor, N.Y.) all secured subsequent first-place finishes prior to the first diving event, which saw
Reilly Laitala (Sterling, Mass.) earn a 188.10 score to take first in the 1 meter 6 optional dive.
Tschida initiated the Norwich onslaught again, beginning a streak of wins for herself,
Martin Adlianitski, Farris,
Adrian Riendeau (Ridgecrest, Calif.), Abbey Houghton (Dover, N.H.), Thompson, Lewis, Bylow, Piekarczyk, and Velasquez, before the 1 meter 5 voluntary dive competition again supplied another victory for Laitala.
Lewis and Abrams rounded out Norwich's individual victories in the 200 IM, before the Cadets closed the day with the 200 freestyle relay. Lewis, Tschida, Creel, and Kelliher combined for a 1:48.49 effort on the women's side, while the Adlianitski brothers, Thompson, and Bylow swam a 1:31.82 on the men's portion.
Prior to the start of the meet, the Cadets recognized their seven senior student-athletes, honoring Creel, Tschida, Abrams,
